That little bird in our head

Positive thinking helps us manage stress, anxiety, and life events. That is not to deny negative thoughts but I believe it is important to have balance and to not give our negative thinking too much power and control over us.

My niece posted about a little bird in her head that could instill negative thoughts. I responded as follows:

The little bird of which you speak

Is inside of us all

Instilling doubt and making us meek.

Where does he come from? Why is he here?

If we understood what he wants

Perhaps things would be more clear.

Alas, he is part of our past

People and events having left their mark

Messing up our minds with thoughts that linger and last.

Don’t go down this path of self-doubt

Focus on your greatness and uniqueness

For in the end that’s what will flush the negativity out!
